It is as if I don’t really know how to teach my Yoga class, until I get in front of the Yoga students. At that moment, I discover my job.
Thinking about the craft of teaching, reading about teaching, participating in teacher training activities, and “practicing” teaching are just the preparation for the discovery.
In the big picture, it is the students that tell me how to teach.
I believe it is a part of my job to take the practitioners to a place where they can experience something meaningful, satisfying, something that they don’t often experience in the daily life.
When we get to the final savasana, it’s like they can get a little taste of heaven. The teacher can be like the driver of the car that takes the students to some new place, some place extraordinary. I want to serve the students in my class that way.
